Welcome to the life of a Rodeo Queen
Hello, my name is Katelynn. I will be representing the 100th Annual Alder Creek Pioneer Picnic and Rodeo this year. This is a little blog that I am setting up for your enjoyment, and for you to see behind the scenes of being a rodeo queen. On October 3rd, I had my try-out for the position. As you can imagine I was VERY nervous. It was just me and another girl. We had to first memorize and complete a pattern with our horses, and then do a "run-out". After that we went to the town's local Cafe, had a bite to eat and then gave our speeches. That was probably the most nerve-racking thing we had to do for the try-out. Then the three judges asked us each three different questions that we had to answer. The scoring was very close. (The other girl ended up winning the postion of rodeo queen at a different rodeo the next day.) And that's pretty much the beginning of my new life. I'm so excited and my horse Zip is too!
